Leave that knows who's driving tomorrow.
A holiday request isn't an HR form when the person asking is rostered on a school run. RouteStra checks leave against the rota before you approve it, so you find out about the clash now rather than at 6am.

Approve it knowing what it costs you.
Conflicts surface before you approve
When a driver requests leave, RouteStra flags every shift already assigned to them across those dates. You approve with the consequences on screen - and approving frees those duties immediately, so the gap goes back into the rota the same minute instead of being discovered on the day.
Capacity rules, not gut feel
Set how many people can be off at once - per depot, per role, or across the whole organisation. Blackout blocks close off the periods you genuinely can't cover: the school-run weeks, the rail-replacement contract, the Christmas timetable. Requests that would breach the rule are caught when they're made.

Entitlements that add up
Accrual, carry-over, public holidays and part-year starters are calculated rather than tracked in a spreadsheet. Drivers see their own balance in the employee portal, so 'how many days have I got left?' stops being a question for the office.

Request to rota, in one thread.
Driver requests
From the employee portal on their phone - My Leave shows their remaining balance before they ask.
Rules check it
Entitlement, capacity limits and blackout blocks are applied automatically. Anything that breaches is flagged there and then.
Manager reviews
Conflicting duties are listed alongside the request. Approve, reject with a reason, or handle a batch at once.
Rota updates
Approved leave frees the assigned duties and shows on the team calendar, so the planner sees the hole immediately.
Payroll picks it up
Leave flows into the hours export with the rest of the period, WTD rules already applied.

Common questions
It's the same system. Leave requests are checked against real shift assignments, and approving a request releases those duties back into the schedule. That's the whole point of it not being a standalone HR tool - the planner and the approver are looking at the same data.
